The Weekend section of the Los Angeles Times delighted readers with a dramatic botanical composition that celebrates the explosive growth of regional plant life during the spring and summer of 2023 in the Los Angeles area. Maggie's illustrations are a stunning visual representation of the colorful and diverse native plants that thrive in the region.

The botanicals featured in the illustration were carefully selected to showcase a wide range of colors and shapes. Among the highlighted plants are California poppies, Toyon berries, Lupine, Clarkia, Prickly pear cactus, Coast live oak branch with acorns, California bluebell, Chaparral currant, Agave, California wildrose, Spotted Humboldt lily, and Cardinal catchfly. Each plant has been rendered with meticulous detail, bringing forth the natural beauty that is unique to LA-native botanicals.
